Our story begins with the nationally recognized research conducted by of our founder, Dr. Alper Yilmaz. Alper is a professor of Geo-Informatics with appointments in Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering; Computer Science; and an honorary appointment to the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University. Ever since Alper defended his PhD dissertation, titled “Object Tracking and Activity Recognition in Video Acquired Using Mobile Cameras”, in 2004, he has been considered an expert in determining position, movement and interaction of objects in 3-dimensional space. The Department of Defense, National Geospatial Agency, NASA, and industry partners have provided over $11 million in funding to Dr. Yilmaz over the last decade. Most of this research has involved accurately determining how objects move and interact with each other without the use of GPS or other RF location technologies.
Dr. Yilmaz's work for NASA was particularly exciting, as he and his colleagues were tasked with providing future astronauts with the means to accurately navigate the moon (or someday, Mars) where there is no GPS to guide them. Dr. Yilmaz invented a solution that uses artificially intelligent tracking tags and visual based navigation to successfully address NASA’s research challenge. Dr. Yilmaz was granted a patent for this NASA innovation. Determined that this space-based invention had commercial value here on Earth, Alper founded Ubihere. The company officially launched in 2018 when Ohio State exclusively licensed the patent to the company. Since its founding, Ubihere has attracted a team of highly experienced entrepreneurs, engineers, and experts committed to developing solutions around Alper’s research. The company is supported by dedicated partners such as Rev1 Ventures and the state of Ohio.
Since 2018, Ubihere has attracted several miillion dollars in venture capital funding and commercialization grants. The company has been awarded multiple Phase I and Phase II Air Force research and development contracts, and has successfully completed multiple customer-centric pilots for both Ubitrax and Ubivision. We are excited to be on the verge of commercially launching both product lines soon! Join us!

Eric is the Chief Executive Officer and head of Government Programs for Ubihere. Prior to joining Ubihere, he worked at Ohio State University where he oversaw commercialization of new innovations and supported the successful launch of over 22 successful technology start-ups. Eric has a B.S. in Computer Science (with honors) and Executive MBA (salutatorian) from The Ohio State University.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
John is a founding member and sits on the Board of Ubihere. He also leads the design, development and manufacturing of the Ubihere product lines. Prior to joining Ubihere, John co-founded Pinnacle Data Systems, a full product lifecycle, diversified integrated computer and electronics systems company, Nasdaq-AMEX exchange (Nasdaq: PNS). The company developed and sold over 500 different electronic products directly to OEMs.
Rich is a Senior Engineer at Ubihere and leads a team of over 25 electrical, mechanical, software, and industrial engineers. Prior to joining Ubihere. Rich was a Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Growth Advisor at Ohio State’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME). He worked with electronics and integrated systems companies to overcome their product development challenges utilizing innovative technologies from the university. Rich successfully managed over a dozen high-profile projects while working for the university. Rich holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University.
SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Michael is a senior software engineer for Ubihere, where he leads the design and development of all Ubihere’s artificial intelligence and computer vision projects. He is currently product manager for the Ubivision suite of commercial products. Prior to joining Ubihere, Michael held several industry positions where he was responsible for largescale computer vision projects for the US Air Force and other customers. In 2019, he joined Dr. Alper Yilmaz’s Photogrammetric Computer Vision Lab at OSU, where his PhD research has focused on the implementation of deep learning onto mobile platforms in partnership with the Center for Surveillance Research and the Autonomy Technology Research Center. His research has covered visual tracking, DNN characterization, feature compression, and few-shot learning.
J.D. is a Program Manager at Ubihere and also a graduate student at OSU, completing a Master’s in Translational Data Analytics. As program manager, J.D. has led the team’s development of an edge-AI solution for Ubihere's computer vision technology. For other projects, J.D. has developed a dispatcher-operator fleet tracking and management software solution. J.D.'s ongoing work for Ubihere is to lead the design and development of Ubihere’s task-agnostic tracking and visualization software platform, overseeing the company’s industrial designer and software development team to combine the company’s hardware-based tag tracking technologies and its computer vision technologies into one system.
